April 2023 Hours

First business day of April? Let's check in on those billable hours.

I had a huge March.

But, in April, I will take several zero-billing days.

The zero-billing days are for:

🧀 Catching up after being out of the office;

🌡 Two days in Tucson for a friend's wedding; and

πŸ‘©β€πŸ« One day in Madison to speak at the law school.

I'll also work two half-Saturdays, giving my time to Wills for Heroes. I'm fortunate that these are billable equivalent hours at my firm.

All said and done, I have:

βœ… 16 full working days and

β˜‘ 2 half working days.

I need to hit 146 base hours, meaning:

βœ… 8.6 hours on full days and

β˜‘ 4.3 hours on half days.

I'll bill more several days in April, as I have many depositions this month (taking and defending).

So, overall, I should stay right on track to hit 1900 by the end of my associate year (June 30th).

And, because of my firm's billable-equivalent policy, I'll likely exceed 1900, as I get credit for recruiting, mentoring, being on the NextGen executive committee, and participating in the HB WE (women's empowerment) ERG.

Now, if only spring weather would follow me into April.

How do you stay on top of your billing requirement?
