Billable Hour Check In

Today is the first working day of September for me, so let’s (trigger warning) check in on that #billablehour:

Including all my billable-equivalent time, I’m on track to hit 1900 by Christmas (not New Years, because I’m hopefully traveling internationally for the holiday).

This month, I need to bill 149.2 hours.

I will have 14 full working days and 4 half working days.

Meaning: I need to aim for 9.3 hours on full days and about 4.7 hours on half days.

Now, I know the comments are festering: 9.3?!? How long do you have to be in the office to hit that?

I average about 10 hours in the office (7-5 / 730-530 / 8-6) and time adds up more than you’d anticipate (in an ethical way, of course).

I try to keep Fridays to half days to build in time for administrative work, but I also know some of those half days will be more like full days.

I also have weekend time as needed.

Which, I likely will need, as I will spend time next week welcoming our new first-year associates—the entire class is kicking off their time with Husch Blackwell at orientation in Milwaukee, and I am very excited to participate in welcoming them to a firm I love so much.

Plus: October is a long month, so I can likely catch up a little then—and in November while my husband hunts (#deerwidow).

Overall, this is doable and I’m looking forward to the month ahead.
