Deer Widow

It’s #deerwidow day in Wisconsin, as hunting season officially kicks off.

This buck, from last year, will shortly be the second mount hanging in my living room.

Never in my wildest dreams did I think I’d marry a hunter, fisher, outdoorsman, let alone willingly have deer mounted on my walls, but here we are.

And: I wouldn’t have it any other way. My husband gets his outdoors time—which brings him such joy—and I get to recharge my introvert soul with alone time (and prep the house for Thanksgiving). A win win.
