Take the Time
Take the time.
When I think about my professional journey so far,
the common refrain is this:
I would have taken the time.
🕰 That trip to Austin with my law school girlfriends; I skipped it because I thought I was too new a clerk to take the time.
🕰 That break between clerking and #BigLaw; only two weeks when I could have taken more.
🕰 When my appendix had to come out; I only took one week, thinking I was bored at home. I needed more time to heal, without a doubt.
🕰 To get married. Even though some irked at me being unavailable, the only thing I’d change is taking more time.
This month--really since Memorial Day Weekend--I've taken the time.
I am unrushed and my workload is lighter.
I'm meeting deadlines and completing assignments, but I'm not filling in the gaps.
I am not overloading my downtime.
I’ll be better at my job long term because I’ve taken this time.
I'll be more focused and productive because I took the time.
I hope you can take some time now or soon.
Please take it.
