Ten Years

Ten years ago today, around this time, I jumped in my car in Oxford, Mississippi and drove to Milwaukee, Wisconsin.

It was already in the 80s when I left Mississippi; 54 when I got out of my car at the Milwaukee hotel I’d live in for the next week.

I dove in head first on that unexpected move and clerkship.

I regret nearly nothing that has occurred in the ten years since.

Wisconsin has changed my life—and made many of my dreams come true.

I started becoming myself in law school; Milwaukee finished the task. I am forever grateful.

The day is also memorable, because it was my 27th birthday. Hard to believe I’m now nearly 40.

I look forward to the next ten years, very much.
