The Grace Period — one week away.
May 7, 2014 -- I was sworn into the bar.
May 2, 2016 -- I joined Midwest big law.
May 7, 2024 -- The Grace Period premieres.
The timing of my podcast premiere is coincidental. I promise I did not purposefully set it for my 10-year anniversary of being a licensed attorney or nearly on the 8-year anniversary of being being in private practice.
And yet, here we are, and: it is perfect.
A week from tomorrow, I'll drop the first episode of The Grace Period, "Defining Big Law."
From there, in season one, I'll lay the foundation with some billable hour and time management techniques that helped me find my stride in private practice.
In season two, I'll tackle lawyer well-being.
Through bite-sized (5-10 minute) episodes, I hope to put my written content in a new format, for a new audience.
Over the last several years, I've talked about these topics with associates at my firm, in 1:1 chats with attorneys I met through socials, and at both of Wisconsin's law schools.
The Grace Period is a way for me to capture that wisdom* and share it more broadly.
*And it is just that: wisdom--gained through hard work, deep lows, and amazing highs.
I hope you'll join me--and share with your friends and colleagues looking to find their grace period within our profession.
