Time Sheet
How do you bill your time?
I use the below time sheet.
At the end of each day, I enter my time (tallied in the left column).
Then, I make a new sheet, for tomorrow.
I list the matters (in the "matter" column) and the action items in the "description" column.
If feeling really hectic, I'll even number the tasks by priority: 1 for most important, down to however many I think I can get through that day.
Then, by hand, I track my time throughout the day.
I add matters as surprises come up.
I go to a second page as needed.
I include non-billable matters and tasks too.
I track it all--legitimately all of it.
At the end of each day, I enter my time and repeat the cycle.
A perpetual to-do list.
A closing ritual.
A reflection on how I spend my time.
