7/27/24 — Mom’s 70th

Today, this woman--Juanita Stedman--my mom, turns 70.

Pictured below, you'll find her working--in the early 1990s (I know this because of the photos on her desk, one being an all-time-fav Christmas card, another being my very first ballet recital).

I was born during finals, when my mom was a first-year law student. My sister was born 22 months later, also during law school.

This photo captures my mom perfectly: a mom, an attorney, and a friend (to the man who took this photo, someone who has taken such good care of my mom, my sister, and me over the last four decades).

She inspires me every damn day--every single one, from birth until now. I am who I am because of her work ethic, people skills, and guidance.

I love you, Juanita. Thank you for everything.
