Billable Hour Check In

I did not hit my billing goal (requirement) in November.

I missed it by exactly how much time I took to recover from COVID.

You win some; you lose some.

And, now December:

December is notoriously a light month. The holidays (and holiday gatherings) strip away working days (and hours)--but I'm okay with that.

My husband's work closes between Christmas and New Year, and we've committed to protecting that time to do something for us.

This year, we're traveling south, to Atlanta to see my family, and then a couple days on the Bourbon Trail on our way back.

I will work some during that time, but on an as needed basis.

So, for me, December only has 16 working days (with one down already).

This month, I'm going to use my firm's automated goal for my hours, meaning: I need to hit 151.

151 /16 = 9.5 a day.

That's a lot, and I won't make it each day.

But, it's not so much that I can't (a) catch up on weekends or (b) sneak in some hours while we're traveling.

Every day, I'll recalibrate to see where I stand and make the plan for the next day.

At the end of each week I'll do the same--including deciding whether I need to work a little over the weekend.

If I hit this, I'll be set up to knock all the remaining hours out in the first six months of 2023 (and in the last six months of the associate year).

How do you keep track of your hours?
