Client Feedback

Feedback. It doesn't just come from the senior associate, partner, or assigning attorney.

It can come directly from your clients.

For me, positive feedback from clients has looked like:

🙂 A simple "thank you," with minimal follow up (if any).

🙂 "File away," or "Yes, please proceed."

🙂 Overt comments like, "I enjoyed working with you on this," or "Excellent work."

🙂 "Please keep this in mind when we work together again."

🙂 "I'll keep you in mind for future Wisconsin matters."

🙂 A return with more work.

🙂 Dropping others from the email chain and coming to me directly for input.

🙂 A sigh of relief when something goes their (our) way.

🙂 A comment to the assigning attorney or partner about enjoying working with me.

Sometimes it is overt. Oftentimes it is subtle.

Just like with partners, senior associates, and assigning attorneys: you have to look for it (or ask directly).

Why? Clients often have even less time than your assigning attorneys.

You have to believe: no news is good news and that if they didn't like working with you, you'd 100% know it.
