Emily Logan Stedman

I am Emily Logan Stedman.

I love my full name.

I sign all documents (and pleadings) with it.

In late-Spring, 1986, my parents gave it to me.

They announced my arrival with it,

and with a joke: welcoming their newest (and first) associate to the world.

See, my dad was already practicing when I was born.

My mom was a law student (after a first career in teaching).

My birth announcement hung in my room growing up.

I knew my path from an early age.

At times, I fought it, but

I always knew: I'd probably be an attorney.

And here I am: an attorney.

My birth announcement now hangs in my office.

A reminder of where I come from,

and where I hope to go.
