Rule 1

"just, speedy, and inexpensive . . ." That last adjective got me.

The Federal Rules of Civil Procedure "govern the procedure in all civil actions and proceedings in the United States district courts." Fed. R. Civ. P. 1.

We are to "construe, administer, and employ" them "to secure the just, speedy, and inexpensive determination of every action and proceeding."

In 2015, the Rules Committee made the update to emphasize "just, speedy, and inexpensive."

The Committee Note mentions a shared responsibility to "cooperate to achieve these ends," noting that "effective advocacy is consistent with -- and indeed depends upon -- cooperative and proportional use of procedure."

My question: How does the Rules Committee define "inexpensive"?
