Second Year of Law School
Yesterday, I wrote about loving my first year of law school.
What about year two?
This is the busy year, to survive, I recommend:
⭐️ Stick with the habits that worked for you 1L year and build on them. Don’t get comfortable and let off of them now.
⭐️ The professor(s) you loved during 1L? Follow them. Take every class they have. You’ll know what to expect and it’ll take the edge off those courses.
⭐️ Take OCIs with a grain of salt. On campus interviews were the only thing about law school that made me cry. I had so many interviews and so few job offers. I made it in the profession—to clerking and #biglaw anyway. Keep your eye on your prize (whatever that is for you) and press on. It’ll work out.
⭐️ Listen to your friends. I would not have run for editor in chief of the law journal had two dear friends (Ellen Egen and Jack West) not encouraged me to do so. Build on the friendships you made 1L and support and encourage each other to go for things. That’s what will make things worth it in the end.
What’s your advice for making the most of 2L year?
