Subject Lines

Use the subject line to your advantage.

My formula:

⏩ DATE Update Re: Case Name -- Topic

Example:

⏩ 1.24 Update Re: Plaintiff v. Defendant -- Discovery and Next Steps

or

⏩ DUE DATE -- Case Name -- DRAFT Pleading Name

Example:

⏩ Due Friday 2.2 -- Plaintiff v. Defendant -- DRAFT Answer and Affirmative Defenses

Every time I reply in the thread--and I try my best to stay in the same thread as long or as often as I can--I update the subject line to reflect why the email is important and/or time sensitive.

I've received positive client feedback for doing this and I think you will too.
