Sunday Reset
"Self care can be scary." -- Dr. Sharon Fieldstone, Ted Lasso
I doubted Ted Lasso.
Could any show live up to so much hype?
And then I binged the first two seasons.
This show was made for someone like me:
Someone who struggles with anxiety and low mood.
Someone deeply sensitive (and/or empathetic).
Someone dedicated to self care and personal development.
When Doc made the above, quoted statement,
I gasped.
My jaw literally fell open.
Self care is not only scary, it is difficult to implement.
The last month for me was very intense.
On all fronts.
As I tend to do when this happens, my routines and self care went out the window.
And I felt it: discombobulated, heavy, out of sorts.
Last night, during some time to myself,
I committed to recommitting to my routines.
So, this morning, I:
🔆 Woke up upon my alarm.
🔆 Completed a 15-minute, get-back-to-it strength workout.
🔆 Made a healthy breakfast.
🔆 Prepped (and took) my supplements.
🔆 Started laundry.
🔆 Did some light chores.
🔆 Planned my hours for the new month.
🔆 Completed my morning, self-care routine (the SAVERS method).
I already feel better--more grounded, more even, lighter.
Self care does not come naturally to me.
Outside of the professional setting, I struggle to hold myself accountable.
Even when I know these tools will help me feel better.
Today, on the last day of July and on the eve of a new month,
I recommit to resetting where and when I can.
Self care can be scary, but it is not impossible.
