Take the Time

Take the time.

When I think about my professional journey so far,

the common refrain is this:

I would have taken the time.

🕰 That trip to Austin with my law school girlfriends; I skipped it because I thought I was too new a clerk to take the time.

🕰 That break between clerking and #BigLaw; only two weeks when I could have taken more.

🕰 When my appendix had to come out; I only took one week, thinking I was bored at home. I needed more time to heal, without a doubt.

🕰 To get married. Even though some irked at me being unavailable, the only thing I’d change is taking more time.

This weekend, I’m taking the time.

Even though I just had a vacation, I’m taking the time.

Even though there is a lot of work to do, I’m taking the time.

Even though there are upcoming deadlines to meet, I’m taking the time.

These things will get done because they have to.

I’ll be better at doing them because I’ve taken this time.

I hope you can take some time now or soon.

Please take it.
