Time Off

It can be hard to take time off.

I have to be disciplined about it or I won’t do it.

I have to be intentional about it or that little voice in my head (the crazy lady in the attic), gets real loud:

🥸 You’re never going to make it if you aren’t serious all the time.

🥸 Other people are billing right now.

🥸 Partners will judge you for having such a low billing month.

🥸 Now is not the time to let up.

🥸 They’ll stop giving you work because you stepped away.

🥸 You should be working.

I could go on and on.

And yet: any regrets I have from my time in the legal profession stem from listening to these negative thoughts and perceptions.

So, I’m taking the time this week, working when able and as needed for time sensitive things.

And leaving the remainder of my billable hour requirement in 2023.

Pictured below: me and my husband on a much needed night out for some spontaneous honky tonk singalongs on Nashville’s famed Broadway.

(As we make the trek back from Georgia to Wisconsin in three parts. Next stop? Bourbon Trail.)
