What works for you?
What works for you?
Do that.
Develop that.
I spent the first 7 years after law school trying to be what others wanted, needed, and expected from me.
It did not work.
It led to doubt, discontent, and anxiety.
I was not being true to myself.
I've learned: it takes all kinds.
The profession (read: the world) needs all kinds.
I cannot do what you do, like you do it.
You cannot do what I do, like I do it.
That is more than okay: that is necessary.
Over the last year, I noted my strengths.
I leaned into them, hard.
Guess what?
People noticed.
My proudest moment over the last year is that a partner commented on a strength that I've been proud of for a very long time (but often wondered if others noticed or agreed that it is a strength).
Turns out, it is.
What works for you?
Determine your assets.
Hone them.
Make them your focus.
Bring them to everything you do.
People will notice.
You'll gain confidence and a greater sense of self along the way.
