Billable Hour Check In

A new month and time to check in with my annual billing requirement.

At Husch Blackwell, our base requirement is 1900 hours.

Our associate year started July 1, 2022.

In these first four months, I'm right on track.

That means, my goal in November is 155 hours.

That's more than doable--if I work every working day this month.

But, after a long stretch of chaos (I mean, billable work), I need some time off.

I am eyeing the week of Thanksgiving for some much needed rest.

I'll also have a half-day to travel to Madison at the end of the month to speak at the University of Wisconsin Law School.

So, this month, I'm looking at 16.5 billing days.

155 / 16.5 = 9.4 hours on the full days and 4.7 hours on the half day.

Some days, I'll hit this goal; some days I won't.

I'll adjust each day and week, and work an extra Saturday or Sunday as needed.

Then we'll rinse and repeat for December.

Now, let me get to it.
