Closing Ritual

I do the same things at the end of every work day--my closing ritual:

🔐 review inbox: delete, move to folder, code by priority, add to tomorrow's to-do list;

🔐 enter and release my time for the day;

🔐 move ongoing/incomplete tasks to tomorrow's to-do list;

🔐 review tomorrow's calendar and add tasks to tomorrow's to-do list;

🔐 update my billable goal (for tomorrow, the week, the month);

🔐 tidy up, turn off white noise machine, turn off lamp, and leave.

I thrive on routine, but more than that, my closing ritual helps me create a clear transition between work and home.

It allows me to wrap up the day's tasks, review what I've done, and plan for tomorrow. Like a brain dump, this frees up space in my mind so I can be more present after work.

It sets me up for the next day's opening ritual. It helps me feel less reactive and more in control of what's to come.

It is a form of self-reflection and self-accountability.

It doesn't have to be complicated or lengthy. Maybe start with preparing tomorrow's to do list or tidying up your work space or physically closing the office door.

Whatever you do, a closing ritual can be a valuable tool for enhancing productivity and improving well-being.
