I am anxious.

In first grade, my teacher told me, "Emily, you worry so much you'll have gray hair by the time you're 30."

Miss Swift was right on both counts.

I've had anxious tendencies my whole life.

As a result, I learned to manage my anxiety at a very young age.

Routines. Rules. Order.

Creating those things saved me.

And, they worked, for a very long time.

It was not until I entered MidWest #BigLaw that my anxiety became something outside of me, bigger than me.

Since then, I've had to reconfigure my routines and tools to combat anxiety.

I've had to seek help outside of myself.

If you run anxious, my hope for you is this: you are not alone in it.

If you are anxious in the law, you are not alone.

If you are anxious in school, you are not alone.

If you are anxious in life, you are not alone.
