Nimble

#SundayReset

nimble. adj. quick and light in movement or action. agile.

Nimble is a characteristic of our best entrepreneurs.

I try to apply an entrepreneurial spirit or mindset to my practice.

Although part of a large firm, I aim to frame my practice—within the four walls of my corporate or home office—as a solo practitioner.

This allows me some autonomy and builds creativity.

Even so, when I saw the word nimble in an HBR article recently, I wondered:

Can big law firms be nimble?

It seems antithetical to the traditional big firm—tradition that clings on, persistent despite ever present calls for change.

It also feels in tension with my typically Type A, often too literal, need to be in routine and control self.

Yet, I see glimmers of hope—both in the work I do on, for, with myself and in the legal profession.

I know that nimbleness leads to innovation and change.

So, today, this Sunday, I strive to be nimble: sprightly, quick-thinking, alert.
