Self Talk

Self talk.

I am not nice to myself.

Full stop.

It's gotten worse lately, while I navigate a pretty busy season.

While I balance the competing needs of my work, my husband, my family, my physical/mental/emotional needs.

When I say these thoughts aloud, my husband often responds:

"That's not true."

I scoff.

It is so, so easy to let your self talk run away with itself.

It can feel like a full-time job to catch your thoughts and say:

🚫 THAT IS A LIE

🚫 THE EVIDENCE SHOWS OTHERWISE

🚫 EM, YOU WOULDN'T SAY THAT TO A FRIEND

I believed my thoughts this weekend.

Every last one of them.

Without evidence to support them.

In the face of evidence to the contrary.

But, it is a new day, and I can keep trying.

This week, I aim to be nicer to myself.

I hope you will be nice to yourself too.

We're all human after all.
