October 2024 Recap

🎃🎃 October 31, 2024 🎃🎃

It is the last business day of the month, so I'm here with my monthly reflection before hitting the ground running in November (and presenting y'all with my monthly billable hour post tomorrow).

October was a doozey, but in some of the best ways.

🎃 I briefed several matters, getting back to legal research and writing after some time away.

🎃 I continued to delegate and learn how to advise associates and revise their work. I love being a manager, but that doesn't mean it is easy.

🎃 I went to Colorado Springs for my industry team retreat.

🎃 I completed my Mental Health First Aid certification.

🎃 I played loads of tennis--and got new strings, which have helped me uplevel my game a bit.

🎃 I had all the client, attorney, and law student 1:1s and lunches, including two with local Milwaukee women I am so grateful to have met (one through tennis and one through LinkedIn).

🎃 I spoke on a panel about lawyer wellbeing.

🎃 I introduced my Inns of Court group to the power of Claude AI for ideation.

🎃 I helped host the first Milwaukee Legal Mentor Network event.

🎃 I joined two new teams/matters.

🎃 I flew to Kansas City for a mediation, getting to spend some really valuable facetime with the client.

🎃 My husband and I finally went to Room Service for dinner. To my Milwaukee followers, it is a must go.

🎃 I continued taking regular naps. These are keeping me sane lately.

This month was insane. I don't hope to repeat the "busyness" of it anytime soon. But, I am grateful for all the opportunities--so, so many of them.

As we wind down 2024, I'm really proud of all I've accomplished this year. These monthly reflections help me land right there.
